Keep on Keeping on
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.”
2 Corinthians 4:7-11
Some of you have been through a lot, and very often it can seem that all the suffering has no purpose. Indeed, in my own journey I found that people and situations which would have seemed to have been intended for my restoration turned instead to the purpose of further harm… and yet even in this there is sometimes a dual purpose. One is that of a shattered vessel which cannot help but pour out what God has placed in it, and the other is that of God speaking through those who in worldly terms would seem unlikely mouthpieces, so that only God can glory in it, and so that those who hear the message must believe it for its own sake, and not the vessel’s.
So, if you find yourself among the walking wounded, don’t despair just yet. Keep on keeping on, God’s not done.
