Examine what you believe
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Awake! Awake!1 Thessalonians 5:21
Today the Lord impressed upon me the importance of knowing whether what we believe is true. I heard:
What if the things you’re really angry about aren’t even true?
Indeed, there are many narratives presented to us in today’s world which are either mostly true but laced with lies, or even entirely false, but so cleverly presented in such a way so as to inspire intense emotion so that we neglect to follow Biblical protocol and verify whether what is being told us is true at all.
Today, I challenge you to study, to research, to search things out in prayer before you invest too much emotion in them, for we live in perilous times, and there are powers at work that seek to enslave us all.
When something is being presented to you that appears to be an important issue, ask yourself:
- Is there proof?
- What are the facts?
- What is the evidence?
- Are my emotions affecting how I view the facts?
Examine everything with a Biblcal worldview, because Christ paid too much for us to walk through life misdirected and deceived.
In His service,
