It often happens that we begin with right motives, or we’re right about something, but then our pursuit of what’s right gets sidetracked by anger, pride, presumption and so many other things. In This chapter of Judges we can see how the other tribes of Israel went too far in dealing with the tribe of Benjamin’s defense of some men who’d committed a vile act. What can we learn about walking in God’s grace from their error?
Very often the loyalties we have come into conflict with what is right in God’s sight. In the previous chapter, a horrific sex crime was committed, and now the entire tribe of Bejamin rises up to defend those who committed it. Let’s discuss what this teaches us about our own loyalties and how they can easily lead us astray.
